CutScape is looking for the absolute best cut of their new music video project. After deciding to shoot the music video on the RED camera, we thought this would be a perfect opportunity to outsource the footage to the online filmmaking community, and, really, anybody who wants to give it a go - allowing us to see the potential of open source filmmaking.

There are many ways to tell a story on film, but unlike narrative film; there are millions of ways to cut a music video together. We are excited to see what you guys do with our footage. In the coming weeks, you will also be able to follow the pre-production and even have an opportunity to have input into that process. You always want to get input from your editor before shooting, right?

The great thing about this contest is it is completely 'Open Source' footage, meaning once you recieve it from CutScape, it is yours to keep and do with however you like. It operates under a Creative Commons license. Even if you don't win the competition, you get to keep high-quality, film-grade footage. Use it to spice up your demo reel or show potential clients your talents.

If you're a seasoned editor and have been looking to get your hands on some RED footage, this is your chance. We are shooting with a professional crew, grip equipment, prime lenses, and experienced above-the-line talent behind the camera.

If you are a novice, this is an opportunity to have great looking footage to expand your skill level, learn your craft, and show everyone your true talent.

The winning entry will be featured on a tv show to air on the FUSE network. The television show is a reality show following a film production crew shooting an up and coming band's music video. The winning cutter's name will be shown in the credits of the tv show and given credit by the on-screen host.

Also, the winner of CutScape 1.0 will receive a brand new, 46" Flatscreen HDTV from SONY.

It's an exciting opportunity with a really cool prize, so sign up and good luck!
